A Novel from Purgatory Springs
Purgatory Springs 1927
Once famous for its grand hotels, sanatoriums, and amusements, Purgatory Springs still draws the desperate in 1927—invalids seeking healing, drifters chasing fortune, and locals struggling to survive the town’s long decline. As mobsters, extremists, and false hopes tighten their grip on the town, Sal Pinelli must decide what he is willing to protect—and how much ruin he is willing to risk.

About the Author
For David Gorton Lucas, Colorado’s abandoned spa towns and mountain sanatoriums are not history so much as family memory. A third-generation Colorado native, he has spent years in the company of things most people drive past without stopping—abandoned railroad grades, fading spa hotels, and the remnants of histories America would rather forget. He holds a master’s degree in history and has worked for over three decades as a creative professional in content development and film production. He did not invent Purgatory Springs so much as recognize it. Purgatory Springs 1927 is his first novel.
